Volunteer Challenge on Friday, April 22 (9 AM – 11:30 AM)

We are recruiting volunteers ages 8 and up to complete our community service challenge to beautify the grounds and trails at our River Campus and Raptor Center. Volunteers commit to provide service from 9 AM to 11:30 PM on Friday, April 22nd. Volunteer sign-in will be from 8:30-9 AM that morning, and we will provide water and limited snacks to kick off the day. Volunteers can purchase our custom Earth Day T-shirt or a water bottle.

Volunteers will be asked to assist with a variety of tasks at the River Campus on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 (you can register for April 23 here):

  • Cleaning up the riverbank to remove discarded fishing lines, lures, and garbage to help protect endangered birds
  • Mulching the future location of a children’s playground area
  • Spring cleanup of weeds and leaves in multiple flower beds
  • Removing noxious weeds to improve opportunities for native plants and to reduce burrs and stickers

Participants are encouraged to donate to the NWDC if they are able and wish to do so. If you cannot participate you can still support our cause from the comfort of your home. We raise funds to continue our mission, to promote environmental stewardship and community health through nature education, wildlife rehabilitation, and outdoor recreation. You can donate through our website at the link below:

We completely understand that these are still difficult times for many of us, and you may not be able to give. Any contributions we receive, however small, will help us to provide our programs and summer camps. If you cannot donate or attend, please consider sharing our information with your friends and family to get the word out!

Before you leave the River Campus, please check out our gift shop to support NWDC and local artists and creators who support us!

Though we will provided limited amounts of drinking water and snacks to volunteers, please arrive prepared with appropriate clothing and any important gear (like sunscreen or a hat), supplemental food, or un-caffeinated, non-carbonated beverages you may want or need. We value your health and safety and appreciate your contributions to us and to Earth!
